At the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games a Chinese Football 5-a-side team will take part in Paralympic Games for the first time.
The fairly young team – the youngest player is 16 years old – was assembled just two years ago, in 2006. Even though China does not have a long history in the sport of Football 5-a-side, the players are looking forward to the Paralympic Games in their home country and they hope they will be able to win a medal.
In an international Football 5-a-side tournament, which took place in Madrid, Spain, from 24 to 29 June 2008, the Chinese team managed to beat higher ranked teams of France and Argentina.
With the support of their home crowd in Beijing, the Chinese Football 5-a-side team will be one to watch out for. And maybe the players can make their dream come true and win the first Paralympic medal for China in Football 5-a-side.
