IOC Co-ordination Commission Visits London

Following two days of positive meetings, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Co-ordination Commission today successfully concluded its fifth visit to London, the host city of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Co-ordination Commission, including International Paralympic Committee (IPC) representative Patrick Jarvis is was updated from the London Organizing Committee (LOCOG) on various areas including marketing, operational integration, transport, Olympic and Paralympic villages and accommodation.

Said Patrick Jarvis, "The planning is progressing very well and LOCOG is on track to deliver outstanding Paralympic Games. We are especially looking forward to the outcome of the broadcast tender process for the UK and of course the activities that will take place around the 1000 days to go on 3 December. It will be the next big step to inspire and excite the UK about the Paralympic Games in 2012."

It was the first time that the Commission was in London twice in the same year, as, for the first three years of preparations, the Commission visits only once. This underlines the fact that London will host the next summer Games and that the level of planning is becoming ever more detailed.

The next Co-ordination Commission meeting will take place from 6-8 July 2010 in London.
