ISIHF World Championships in Latvia
The third World Championships of the International Standing Amputee Hockey Federation (ISIHF) will be conducted at the Zemgale Ice Arena in Jelgava, Latvia, from 14 to 21 May 2006.
Organized by ISIHF and the Latvian Amputee Hockey Associatio and supported by the Latvian Paralympic Committee and the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation, the competition promises to become an exciting tournament. Teams from Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Latvia, Russia, and USA will compete and fight for medals.
The sport uses International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) rules of play. A classification system, verified during the two previous World Championships in 2003 and 2004, is used to establish equality on the ice, keep the game exciting and allow equity for arm and leg amputees to play this sport.
