A picture of a woman celebrating her victory

Aged just 19, Rothfuss showed she had a bright future ahead of her winning four bronze medals in the five events she competed in at the 2009 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in Korea.

A year later and she was on the podium again this time winning two silvers and a bronze at the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.

She finally got her first taste of gold in Sestriere, Italy when she stormed to victory in the Slalom and Downhill events at the 2011 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships. She also won two silver and two bronze medals bringing her medal tally for the Championships to six.

The 2011/2012 season was again an impressive one for the German. She finished top of the World Cup standings for the Giant Slalom and Super-G events and was second on the list for Super Combined.

In 2013 she will be determied to continue her impressive form but will face a stiff challenge for medals, most likely from the French duo of Solene Jambaque and Marie Bochet. Expect the battle between the three of them to run and run all the way through to Sochi 2014.
