Anna Schaffelhuber (GER) competing at the 2010 Vancouver Games

Despite her tender years the German won an impressive Super-G bronze at her first Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver aged just 17, one year after she made her international debut in the European Cup.

She followed this up a year later taking three gold medals at the 2011 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in Sestriere, Italy.

At the end of the 2011/2012 World Cup season Schaffelhuber was in the top three rankings for Giant Slalom, Super Combined, Super G and Slalom, finishing in top spot for the latter event.

Her battles with the USA pairing of Alana Nichols and Laurie Stephens could be one of the stand-out features of the 2013 season, especially at February's World Championships in La Molina, Spain. Expect fireworks by the time Sochi 2014 comes around, by which time she will have celebrated her 21st birthday.
