Morii made his Paralympic debut in 2006 at the Torino Games, and finished outside the medal places in the four events he took part in.
At the 2009 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in Korea he picked up a silver and bronze, a feat he repeated at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Paralympic Games, however in different events.
In Sestriere, Italy, Marii got his first taste of gold taking top spot in Giant Slalom at the 2011 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships.
Both he and his teammate Takeshi Suzuki will be looking to win their first Paralympic Winter Games gold medal at Sochi 2014, but before that both will go head-to-head at February's 2013 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in La Molina, Spain.
The signs look promising. At the end of the 2011/2012 season Morii topped the World Cup standings in Super G, was second for Giant Slalom and placed third in the Super Combined.
