Biography
After finishing second to China at the 2010 World Championships, the USA women’s Sitting Volleyball team earned the right to compete at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
The program has skyrocketed since it began in 2003, and especially since winning a medal in Beijing.
In 2009, the squad won the Euro Cup and Parapan America Zonal Championships. In 2010 it won the Parapan American Championships before taking second at Worlds, and then in 2011, it came away with the title at the Continental Cup.
The tandem of Katie Holloway and Kari Miller have been paving the path for the USA’s success, as well as Holloway's fellow captain, Kendra Lancaster, who recently returned from an injury.
At the World Championships, Holloway was named the tournament’s Best Spiker and Miller was named the tournament’s Best Libero.
With a veteran team heading to London that includes several players with previous Paralympic Games experience, the Americans could be a threat to steal the gold from China in London.
