LATEST TRIUMPHS:
London 2012 Paralympics – Gold: individual BC3
2011 Boccia World Cup – Silver: individual BC3
Ye Jin Choi

Ye Jin Choi made her international debut at the 2011 Boccia World Cup Belfast, Northern Ireland, and instantly cemented herself as a medal contender by making it to the individual BC3 final. Although she had to settle for a silver medal after being defeated by her fellow countryman Ho Won Jeong, she would have her revenge in London.

Choi, 22, was very impressive in her first Paralympic Games outing in London, setting up another BC3 final against Jeong, and this time she clinched the match, winning Paralympic gold.

Since 2011, she has quickly climbed to the top, and is now the third highest ranked BC3 competitor in the World, solidifying Korea’s dominance in the BC3 class.

The next opportunity for Choi to add to her medal collection is the 2013 Asia and Oceania Boccia Championships in Sydney, Australia, with the probability of her facing off against another Korean athlete being very high.

In 2014, she will have the chance to make her World Championship debut, but she will obviously be looking forward to retaining her Paralympic title at Rio 2016.
