Americas Paralympic Committee Holds Elections

The Americas Paralympic Committee (APC) held its General Assembly on 22 October

The Americas Paralympic Committee (APC) held its General Assembly on 22 October and at the same time carried out elections for their Executive Committee.

Elected as Vice Chairperson was Octavio Londono from Colombia. As the position for Chairperson was not filled, Mr. Londono will officially represent the APC Executive Committee until the next APC General Assembly. The Members at Large who were elected included Eric Diaz from Panama, Mike Peters from USA and Alfonso Olivero from Dominican Republic.

A total of 13 National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) were in attendance at the APC General Assembly, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Uruguay, USA and Venezuela. The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) as a new member was also in attendance.

Included in the agenda this year at the General Assembly was detailed feedback over the past activities from all members, with the aim to developing Paralympic Sport further in the region with competitions, including the Youth Parapan American Games which are currently taking place in Colombia.
