The Games will take place from 14-20 January 2014, drawing nearly 2,000 athletes from 11 southeast Asian nations.

The seventh ASEAN Para-Games, to be held in Naypyitaw, Myanmar in 2014, will feature 12 sports the Asian Paralympic Committee announced, with the possibilities of badminton and tenpin being included in the 2014 biennial Games.

The Asean Para-Sports Federation (APSF) and Naypyitaw Asean Para-Games Organising Committee (NAPGOC), in its co-ordination committee meeting in Naypyitaw recently, agreed on the inclusion of the sports, an increase as compared to the previous Games in Solo, Indonesia.

The Games will take place from 14-20 January 2014, drawing nearly 2,000 athletes from 11 southeast Asian nations.

The sports to be contested at the Naypyitaw Games include: archery, athletics, boccia, chess, football 5-a-side, football 7-a-side, goalball, powerlifting, swimming, table tennis, sitting volleyball and wheelchair basketball.

This past week, a site inspection was made of the venues, including the main sports complex, the new football and athletics stadiums, aquatic venues and the newly built Games village.

“Preparations are well underway and we welcome athletes, officials, delegates, dignitaries and guests with open arms,” said Minister U Tint San.
