“This new partner is a huge benefit for Paralympic sport in Germany. As a company with great communicative strength BP will most definitely provide a noticeable push to our team.”

BP has signed up to sponsor the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Germany, bringing to nine the number of NPCs supported by the International Paralympic Committee’s International Partner.

“The motivation and the performances of athletes with an impairment impress me very much and are also an inspiration for our company to always give our best,” said Michael Schmidt, chairman of BP Europe SE.

“That is the reason why we are especially looking forward to supporting the athletes in their preparations and participation at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.”

BP was a partner of the London 2012 Paralympics and became an International Partner of the IPC in 2013.

NPC Germany President Friedhelm Julius Beucher said: “This new partner is a huge benefit for Paralympic sport in Germany. As a company with great communicative strength BP will most definitely provide a noticeable push to our team.”

BP also supports NPCs in the UK, USA, Angola, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Trinidad & Tobago, and the Netherlands. These partnerships reflect the strong alignment of values between BP and the Paralympic organisation.
