The 2013 IBSA Copa America brought together eight teams in the biggest-ever continental tournament in the Americas region.

Brazil won the 2013 IBSA Copa America in football 5-a-side on Monday (30 September), defeating host nation Argentina in the final in a thrilling penalty shootout.

The Brazilians – the defending Paralympic and world champions – were successful on three of their penalty kicks, with

Argentina managing just two scores in the tiebreaker on their home pitch in Santa Fe against their arch rivals.

Jefferson da Conceicao Goncalves, better known as Jefinho, scored 12 of Brazil’s 31 goals in the tournament. The nation

has not lost a major championship since 1996.

The 2013 IBSA Copa America brought together eight teams in the biggest-ever continental tournament in the Americas region.

Elsewhere in the tournament, Paraguay finished third, beating Colombia on penalties. Mexico came fifth, defeating Uruguay, 3-0, in their playoff match, while Chile concluded the tournament in seventh place and Peru came eighth.
