Two medal events took place in Powerlifting at the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games on Wednesday (15 December) with host nation China taking one gold and Iran the other.
In the first medal event of the day – the Men’s 67.5kg - China’s Liu Lei powered his way to victory with a lift of 222.5kg. Iran’s Ali Hosseini took silver and Turkmenistan won their first medal of the Games, a bronze, through Sergey Meladze.
The second gold medal of the day went to Iran’s Majid Farzin in the Men’s 75kg. His lift of 220.0kg was enough to put Hu Peng of China and Mariappan M.Perumal of Malaysia into silver and bronze respectively.
On Thursday, there will be four medal events in Powerlifting at the Asian Games Town Gymnasium starting with the Women’s 52kg.
