After winning eight medals, including two golds, at last week’s 2011 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming European Championships, the Croatian national swimming team proved extremely popular with the country’s media upon their return home.
On Tuesday, Croatian media turned out in force for a press conference to welcome the team home from Berlin, Germany.
The whole team turned out in force for the media with medal winners Mihovil Spanja (five medals including one gold), Sanja Milojevic (two medals including one gold) and Kristijan Vincetic (silver medallist) proving the most popular.
Amongst those broadcasters who attended the ‘welcome home’ press conference were HRT (a national TV channel), Sport TV and two regional TV channels. Three national daily newspapers were also on hand to greet the swimmers.
Croatia’s haul of eight medals in Berlin saw them finish in 14th position on the final medal table. Ukraine topped the table with a total of 105 medals, including 41 golds.
