New Zealand’s Michael Johnson, the current world record holder, will start his quest for the world title in the R4 (10m Air Rifle Standing Mixed SH2).

Germany’s home favourite Natascha Hiltrop will be action on Monday (21 July), the third day of competition at the IPC Shooting World Championships in Suhl, Germany, as the R3 and R4 mixed competitions get underway.

Here’s what to watch on day three:

R3 (Mixed 10m Rifle Prone SH1)

Germany’s Hiltrop will start her campaign looking to repeat her European title success from Alicante, Spain, last year.

Hiltrop defeated a number of the top stars, including Slovakia’s Vadovicova by just 0.2 in Alicante. Vadovicova already has one world title to her name in Suhl and will be confident of further success against the home favourite.

Great Britain’s Matthew Skelhon, Paralympic silver medallist from London 2012, will also be looking to improve on the third place finish he achieved at the 2010 World Championships.

Sweden’s 17-time Paralympic gold medallist Jacobsson, a gold medal winner in Saturday’s competition, will also feature as will China’s medal favourite Cuiping Zhang, who won bronze at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

They will also have to be wary of France’s Cedrid Fevre, who claimed gold at London 2012 ahead of Skelhon and Zhang.

The qualifying is split into two stages, with the first sessions starting at 09:00 CET, with the second session at 10:45 CET. The finals will then take place at 12:30 CET.

R4 (Mixed 10m Air Rifle Standing SH2)

New Zealand’s Michael Johnson, the current world record holder, will start his quest for the world title in the R4 (10m Air Rifle Standing Mixed SH2).

The 40-year-old, who has been competing in the sport since 2002, achieved third place at the 2010 World Championships, and will be looking to improve on that this time around.

Despite setting a world record in qualification at the 2013 IPC Shooting European Championships in Alicante, Spain, Johnson lost out to Ukraine’s Vasyl Kovalchuk, who will be looking to add the world title to his European crown in Suhl.

Also expected to challenge is Great Britain’s James Bevis, who took bronze at the 2013 European Championships.

The qualification, split into two separate phases, will take place at 14:15CET and 16:30CET respectively, with the finals set to take place at 18:45 CET.
