Germany’s Dietmar Kober, Great Britain’s Aaron McKibbin, Sweden’s Fredrik Andersson and Norway’s Andreas Aulie all won gold in their respective classes at the Para-Table Tennis Brazilian Open for the Disabled on Saturday (20 August) in Rio de Janeiro.

Host nation Brazil, meanwhile, racked up eight first-place finishes, including four in the team competition. The Brazilians came out on top in the women’s Class 6-10, and on the men’s side in the Class 1-2, Class 3 and Class 6-7 categories.

Kober, meanwhile, defeated his German colleague Werner Burkhardt in the Class 4 finals and then teamed up with him on the doubles side to take home first place.

A total of 23 gold medals were given away on the weekend, as delegations from North America, South America and Europe all took part.
