De la Forest is the current world record holder in the R4 mixed 10m Air Rifle standing SH2 and will be one to watch on day four of the shooting competition.
The focus is on the R4 mixed 10m Air Rifle standing on day four of the London 2012 Paralympic Games shooting competition at the Royal Artillery Barracks.
It is the only event on the shooting programme on day four and if the competitors perform anything like most of them did in their opening event (the R5 mixed 10m Air Rifle prone SH2), then there will be plenty for fans to get excited about.
Ten shooters shot a perfect score of 600 in qualifying to equal the world record in the R5 mixed 10m Air Rifle prone. The winner of the final was Ukraine’s Vasyl Kovalchuk who, despite his success, quickly turned his attention to the R4 mixed 10m Air Rifle standing event taking place on day four.
He will again face tough competition though, with silver medal winner on day three, Raphael Voltz of France, keen to go one better on day four.
“I have the 10m Air Rifle (standing SH2) and obviously I hope I can do one better (than second)," Voltz said after winning a silver medal in the R5 mixed 10m Air Rifle prone event.
France’s Tanguy de la Forest failed to qualify for the final in his event on day three after missing only one perfect 10 score and said after that disappointment, he was only looking forwards to day four.
"I know I can do 600 (points) because over the last three or four months, I have done it three or four times,” he said.
“But I have a good feeling at this moment. I'm concentrating on tomorrow (day four), forget today, look to tomorrow."
De la Forest is the current world record holder in the R4 mixed 10m Air Rifle standing SH2 and will be one to watch on day four of the shooting competition.
Other shooters likely to do well include Lee Jiseok of Korea who is the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games champion in the Air Rifle standing SH2.
Bradley Mark of Australia is another to watch. Mark shot a perfect score and equal world record of 600 in qualifying in his event on day three, but missed the final as a result of an inferior central-10 hit count.
The R4 mixed 10m Air Rifle standing is scheduled to start at 09:00 at the Royal Artillery Barracks.
