A packed house at ThePoint4 venue in Hereford, Great Britain, witnessed their home team continue their winning run, as Great Britain defeated Germany 2-0 on day four (25 August) of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Blind Football European Championships.

Roy Turnham passed three defenders to score the game’s first goal. Three minutes later, Robin Williams added another one for the British, advancing them to the semi-finals that begin Friday (28 August). The remaining group-A spot is up for grabs between Turkey and Germany, who both can decide their fates on Wednesday (26 August); Germany will look to rebound from their loss when they face Italy. Turkey, who rested on Tuesday, will return to the pitch and have the difficult task of playing Great Britain.

Italy defeated Poland 3-0 as both team’s entered Tuesday’s action with no chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.

Over at group-B action, Russia held reigning European champions Spain to a 0-0 draw. Spain and France will face off on Wednesday (26 August). Both have everything to play for as either team could qualify if they take three points from the encounter. Russia will meet Greece on Wednesday.

Elsewhere in group-B play, Belgium found their offense in the second half to defeat Greece 2-0, thanks to both scores from Kevin Vanderborght.
