Great Britain Tops International Regatta

The International Adaptive Regatta in Gavirate, Italy, brought out high level athletes in Rowing over the weekend, with Great Britain taking many of the top positions.

Taking place from 2-3 May, the Regatta was organized by the Associacione Sportiva Canottieri Gavirate. Italy, Poland, Russia, Australia and Portugal were also represented by other athletes at the event.

In the finals of the Men’s Single Sculls, Paralympic gold medalist Tom Aggar from Great Britain took the first position. Aggar was 12 seconds ahead of his compatriot Andy Houghton. Ben Houlison from Australia took the third position.

In the Women’s Single Sculls Final, Portugal’s Filomena Franco finished ahead of Australia’s Kathryn Ross to take the first position.

The Mixed Double Sculls Final had Italy’s Daniele Stefanoni and Stefania Toscano taking top position with 4:15.80, followed by Poland’s duo Iolanta Pawlak and Piotr Maijka, and Great Britain’s James Roberts and Samantha Scowen.

In the Mixed Coxed Four Final, Great Britain’s team of Vicki Hansford, James Roe, David Smith, Naomi Riches and Alan Sherman took the first position, finishing at 4:05.40. Teams from Italy and Russia followed Great Britain in second and third positions respectively.
