Great Britain Triumphs at Harpers International Sitting Volleyball Tournament

Stoke Mandeville Stadium welcomed teams from Great Britain, Canada and the Netherlands for an International Sitting Volleyball tournament this week and witnessed Great Britain winning five out of six matches.

Supported by Harpers Fitness at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the tournament saw some of the best competitors from Great Britain and the Netherlands battle it out on the courts.

Match 1 - Great Britain Women 0-3 Netherlands Women (16-25, 18-25, 22-25)

Match 2 - Great Britain Men 3-1 Canada Men (25-14, 25-18, 23-25, 25-12)

Match 3 - Canada Women 0-3 Netherlands Women (6-25, 7-25, 13-25)

Match 4 - Canada Men 0-3 Netherlands Men (18-25, 15-25, 17-25)

Match 5 - Great Britain Women 3-1 Canada Women (20-25, 25-11, 25-16, 25-8)

Match 6 - Great Britain Men 3-2 Netherlands Men (17-25, 17-25, 25-21, 27-25, 15-13)

Richard Callicott, President of the British Volleyball Federation said: “It was a strong, confident performance from the British teams today against both of our opponents. Hopefully, our teams can keep up their form as we get into the later stages of the competition.”

Ian Seabrook, Business Development Manager at Stoke Mandeville Stadium said: “We had a thriller match on our hands last night during the last match between Great Britain and the Netherlands with the forthcoming matches promising to be just as nail biting.”
