IPC launches first official website for NPC El Salvador

“It is fantastic that the IPC can help out our member nations in the Americas region raise awareness for the Paralympic Movement"

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) launched www.coparesa.org on Tuesday (9 July), which is the first official website for El Salvador’s National Paralympic Committee (NPC).

The new website is part of the IPC’s overall digital strategy to develop a greater online presence for its members and will showcase the latest news, images and para-athletes in El Salvador, as well as information relating to anti-doping, classification and the Paralympic Games.

Craig Spence, IPC Media and Communications Director, said: “It is fantastic that the IPC can help out our member nations in the Americas region raise awareness for the Paralympic Movement with new digital platforms, being that so many para-sport events are heading their way during the next four years.”

The new website for El Salvador, all in Spanish, will provide the NPC with a digital platform to raise awareness in the country in the lead-up to the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games and Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, as well as other major international and grassroots events.

Julio Meza, Communications Manager of NPC El Salvador, said: “I believe this technological tool represents for the COPSESA and its members a window through which they can humanise our athletes and members, and at the same time will be an international reference as the representatives of the Movement in El Salvador.”

El Salvador made their Paralympic debut at the Sydney 2000 Games with wheelchair sprinter Claudia Marina Palacios as their sole representative. The country has yet to take part in a Paralympic Winter Games and is still awaiting their first Paralympic medal.

This is the sixth website the IPC has produced for a National or Regional Paralympic Committee. During the past year, new websites have also been launched for Zimbabwe, Panama, Cameroon, Namibia and Oceania’s Paralympic Committees.

El Comité Paralímpico Internacional (IPC) lanzó www.coparesa.org el martes (9 de julio), la cual es la primera página web oficial del Comité Paralímpico Nacional de El Salvador (CPN).

El nuevo sitio web es parte de la estrategia digital global del IPC para desarrollar una mayor presencia en línea para sus miembros, y será una plataforma para mostrar las últimas noticias, imágenes y para-atletas en El Salvador, así como la información relacionada a la lucha contra el dopaje, la clasificación y los Juegos Paralímpicos.

Craig Spence, Director de Media y Comunicaciones del IPC, dijo: "Es fantástico que el IPC pueda ayudar a nuestros países miembros en la región de las Américas a crear conciencia sobre el movimiento paralímpico con las nuevas plataformas digitales, sabiendo que hay tantos eventos para-deportivos dirigiéndose hacia esta región durante los próximos cuatro años ".

El nuevo sitio web de El Salvador, completamente en español, ofrecerá el CPN con una plataforma digital para difundir conocimiento en el país durante el período previo a los Juegos Parapanamericanos de Toronto 2015 y los Paralímpicos de Rió 2016, así como otros eventos importantes a nivel local e internacional.

Julio Meza, Gerente de Comunicaciones del CPN El Salvador, dijo: " Considero que esta herramienta tecnológica significa para el COPSESA y para todos sus integrantes, una ventana a la sociedad, por medio de la cual expondrán su calidad humana y de trabajo, al mismo podrán ser referencia mundial como dignos representantes de El Salvador".

El Salvador hizo su debut en los Juegos Paralímpicos de Sydney 2000 con la sprinter en silla de ruedas Claudia Marina Palacios como su única representante. El país todavía no ha participado en los Juegos Paralímpicos de Invierno y sigue esperando su primera medalla paralímpica.

Este es el sexto sitio web que el IPC ha producido para un Comité Paralímpico Nacional o Regional. El año pasado, se lanzaron sitios web para Zimbabwe, Panamá, Camerún, Namibia y los Comités Paralímpicos de Oceanía.
