Italian Coaches Learn About Sport for Persons With a Disability

On 10 November, Scuola dello Sport, together with the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP), will organize a one-day seminar for top coaches and trainers dedicated to sport activities for athletes with a disability. For the first time in Italy, sport for persons with a disability is integrated in a top level programme for coaches, becoming part of the Scuola dello Sport's education calendar.

The title of the seminar is "Sport for athletes with a disability: general and educational-methodological aspects". Marco De Sanctis, CIP Secretary General, and Nicola Schiavone, Scuola dello Sport Director, will officially open the seminar and introduce the programme, stressing the importance of the partnership between both institutions. Furthermore, Marco Bernardi (CIP Medical Doctor), Arianna Mainardi (CIP Research and Education Department) and Giuseppe Marino (CIP National Team Director) will present on various topics in regards to sport for persons with a disability. In the afternoon, a round table led by CIP technicians and Scuola dello Sport's teaching staff will top off the day.

Scuola dello Sport was created in 1966 within the Italian Olympic Committee with the purpose of providing training courses to the National Federations’ technicians. Since then, it followed the changes occurred in the sport field, widening its training offer towards new important actors such as sport managers, team directors, marketing experts and facility administrators.
