Japan’s Shingo Kunieda and Yui Kamiji were among the tennis stars honoured for their successes in 2014 at the International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) World Champions Dinner on Tuesday (2 June) in Paris, France.

Kunieda, who won back-to-back World Championships, continued his dominance of the Men's Wheelchair honour board with a sixth crown to level Australia's David Hall as the most honoured male wheelchair player.

Kamiji received the Women's Wheelchair World Champion award after being crowned the World Champion for the first time after dominating the Grand Slam tournaments in 2014. The 20-year-old captured her first two major titles at Roland Garros and the US Open, and was runner-up at the Australian Open.

Both Kunieda and Kamiji are currently ranked No. 1 in the world in men’s and women’s singles, respectively, and recently stamped their mark as the top players after winning the Japan Open in May.

This year's awards was the last World Champions Dinner with Francesco Ricci Bitti as ITF President.

Serena Williams was among the other tennis legends in attendance, receiving the Women's World Champion award, and Novak Djokovic received the 2014 Men's World Champion.
