Legacy Lives 2008
Building upon the success of the inaugural Legacy Lives Conference in London, Great Britain, in 2007, Legacy Lives 2008, to be held from 28 to 30 January 2008 in Barbados, will once again bring together over 250 of the world's leading decision makers in the major sporting events arena – from event rights holders, Local Organizing Committees (LOCs), National Olympic Committees (NOCs), bidding and host cities and International Federations (IFs) to create a forum for a better understanding of the ever increasing importance of legacy planning and implementation – for everyone involved in the bidding, planning, staging and delivery of major events – and of all the sustainable benefits that can and should be integral to this process. 04 Sep 2007
The inaugural 2007 event featured such speakers as Lord Sebastian Coe and Paul Deighton (London 2012 Organizing Committee), Denis Oswald and Christophe Dubi (International Olympic Committee) and Sir Philip Craven (International Paralympic Committee) as well as heard presentations from leading world cities including Beijing, London, Sydney, Glasgow, Vancouver, Athens and Torino.
Presented by pmpLEGACY, in partnership with UK Sport and Legacy Barbados, Legacy Lives 2008, will feature keynote papers and presentations, interactive workshops and sessions, time for informal networking and an exhibition of leading event Organizing Committees. Furthermore, it will provide the latest best practice and thought leadership on the main legacy benefits for sport, social and cultural programmes, economic impact, tourism initiatives, regeneration, environment and sustainability. It will also examine the long-term profile-raising benefits for cities and countries of the event bidding process itself.
