The National Paralympic Committee of Germany (DBS) is mourning the passing of Detlev Lutkehoff, who was the Youth secretary of DBS for 34 years before partially retiring in 2013.

Lutkehoff was amongst the first employees of DBS and played an important role in the development of DBS, especially the German Disability Sport Youth. He was co-founder of the German Youth State Cup and attended the Paralympic Youth Camps in Barcelona, Atlanta, Sydney, Athens, Beijing, Vancouver and London 2012. He was further involved in the implementation of the project “Youth trains for Paralympics”.

His colleagues valued his friendly and warmhearted character, his energy and his professional knowledge. In October 2013 Lutkehoff received the ‘Diskus’, an award presented by the German Sport Youth organisation for his longstanding engagement.
