Paralympics Ireland have welcomed three new members to their Paralympic Family and approved the 2014 Annual Report and financial statements at their Annual General Meeting.

To the forefront of President Jimmy Gradwell’s address was the impressive success of Irish para-athletes on the world stage in 2014; winning no fewer than 12 medals at European and World Championships in the sports of athletics, cycling and swimming.

Gradwell gave the assembled audience of member sports and observers a comprehensive summary of the activities and highlights across the organisation for the past year.

Archery Ireland, Badminton Ireland and the Irish Taekwondo Union were welcomed into the Paralympics Ireland family with the addition of them as members. Each new member addressed the room about the exciting new challenge ahead for the Paralympic Games at Tokyo 2020.

The Chef de Mission, Denis Toomey, and some members of the Paralympics Ireland staff also presented updates on specific areas of interest to the members with only 16 months left until the Paralympic Games in Rio 2016.
