Portuguese team named for Marathon World Championships

The Portuguese Athletics Federation has named a team of eight athletes who will compete at the IPC Athletics Marathon World Championships on 26 April in London, Great Britain.

Two bronze medallists from the 2013 World Championships in Lyon, France – Gabriel Macchi (T12) and Joaquim Machado (T11) both feature as does Sydney 2000 Paralympic marathon champion Carlos Ferreira.

The athletes are as follows:

• Carlos Ferreira T11

• Gabriel Macchi T12

• Joaquim Machado T11

• Jorge Pina T12

• José Monteiro T46

• Manuel Mendes T46

The IPC Athletics Marathon World Championships is held as part of the Virgin Money London Marathon. Between 22-31 October, the IPC Athletics World Championships will take place in Doha, Qatar, attracting around 1,300 athletes from 90 countries.
