Russia and Thailand Win Big in Archery

At last weekend's Para-Archery World Ranking event in Bangkok, Russia came away with nine medals, including four golds.

The Russians came away with nine medals, including four golds, and Thailand claimed seven medals, two of them gold.

Russia and Thailand took the top two spots at last weekend’s Para-Archery World Ranking event in Bangkok, Thailand, which ran from 12-18 March.

The Russians came away with nine medals, including four golds, and Thailand claimed seven medals, two of them gold.

Stepanida Artakhinova and Alexey Shcherbakov of Russia won the men’s and women’s Compound Open events, as their teammates, Olga Plegaeva and Mikhail Diktovannyy, claimed bronze medals in those competitions, respectively.

Artakhinova, Plegaeva and Diktovannyy have already qualified for the London 2012 Paralympic Games and are now just waiting to be confirmed by the Russian Paralympic Committee.

Timur Tuchinov and Sergey Khutakov finished one-two for Russia in the men’s Recurve Standing and Raliya Galikeeva notched a silver in the women’s Recurve Standing.

Thailand, meanwhile, swept the team events, winning gold in the men’s Team Recurve, as well as the Mixed Team Recurve and Compound Opens.

Malaysia finished third in the team standings with four medals, and was followed by Canada, Korea, Mongolia and Kazakhstan.
