Six women’s wheelchair basketball teams vie for Worlds spots

Argentina, Brazil, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and Peru will all play five days of competition in Guatemala City.

The 2014 Women’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championships will take place from 20-28 June in Toronto, Canada, drawing the top 12 teams from the four international zones.

The women’s wheelchair basketball Americas Qualification Tournament will begin on Monday (29 July) in Guatemala City, Guatemala, with the top three finishers qualifying for next year’s World Championships in Toronto, Canada.

With Canada and the USA having already qualified from the zone, Argentina, Brazil, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and Peru will play over five days in a round-robin competition for the other spots.

Last time around, Brazil and Mexico qualified from this tournament, though this time an extra spot will be awarded.
