To mark six years to go until the start of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games on Thursday (24 July), the organising committee launched a new English Twitter account @Tokyo2020.

Throughout the day, the organising committee is also sharing on social media 20 engaging pictures of Tokyo 2020 staff celebrating the six years to go milestone as part of a #Inside Tokyo2020 campaign.

One of the pictures is of three-time Paralympian Mami Sato, the long jumper who was Tokyo 2020’s first presenter at the IOC Session last September in Buenos Aires, Argentina, when they won the Games, beating off rival bids from Istanbul, Turkey, and Madrid, Spain.

The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games will take place 25 August-6 September, whilst the Olympics will be from 24 July – 9 August.

Later this year, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) will announce the sports programme for the Tokyo 2020 Games. International Federations have until Monday 28 July to submit their final bids for inclusion to the IPC.
