After an incredible dual on Tuesday (22 July), Russia’s Sergey Malyshev and Sweden’s Joackim Norberg will reignite their battle for glory in the P4 (mixed 50m pistol SH1).

With just three days left to go of the 2014 IPC Shooting World Championships in Suhl, Germany, attention on Thursday (24 July) turns to the R8 (women’s 50m rifle 3 positions SH1) and the P4 (mixed 50m pistol SH1).

Slovakia’s European champion Veronika Vadovicova, a gold medallist already in Suhl, will be strong contender in the R8.

Last year she claimed the European title in Alicante, Spain with a European finals record, fending off strong challenges from Great Britain’s Lesley Baldwin and Karen Butler, two athletes she will meet again on Thursday.

Germany’s Natascha Hiltrop, who has fallen short of the individual medals, but has managed to achieve team success, will also be hopeful of reaching the podium.

London 2012 Paralympic gold medallist, China’s Cuiping Zhang, will be looking to finish her competition with a medal after disappointing form so far.

After an incredible dual on Tuesday (22 July), Russia’s Sergey Malyshev and Sweden’s Joackim Norberg will reignite their battle for glory in the P4 (mixed 50m pistol SH1).

Norberg came out on top last time but Malyshev will be hungry for revenge.

Serbia’s Rastko Jokic will also be one to look out for after claiming the European title last year with a new regional record. Jokic destroyed a high quality field that day which included Poland’s Slawomir Okoniewski and Russia’s Paralympic silver medallist Valery Ponomarenko, athletes who will be medal contenders in Suhl.

After losing her battle for the bronze medal in the P3 (mixed 25m pistol SH1), Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia’s Olivera Nakovska-Bikova will be hoping to find herself amongst the medals this time around.

She was defeated by China’s Jainfei Lei, who will be looking to go one step further in this event by winning either the silver or gold medal.
