This week’s #Superhero Sunday comes from Great Britain’s young track star Maria Lyle, who sprinted in to the spotlight last year when she set a new world record in the 200m T35 at the IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai, UAE.

Lyle ran even faster at a meeting on home soil three months later, adding the 100m T35 world record before going on to secure double European sprint gold in Swansea, Great Britain.

The 15-year-old returned to Dubai again this year – and broke her own 200m world record once again. But the speedy Scot may not have it all her own way at the IPC Athletics World Championships in Qatar in two months’ time.

Another talented teenager, Australia's Isis Holt, broke both the 100m and 200m T35 world records in Brisbane in March. Expect a thrilling battle when the pair meet on the track.

Here are Lyle’s Superheroes:

1. Tanya Burr – (British Blogger and YouTuber)

She makes girls feel better and happier about themselves. She’s very successful - YouTube is such a big thing - and everyone wants to try and make it on YouTube. She’s one of my favourite YouTubers.

2. Usain Bolt - (Jamaican sprinter – world record holder and multiple Olympic and world champion)

He does similar events to me and he’s got a great personality - he’s someone I’d always like to meet.

3. Forrest Gump (lead character in the film/novel by the same name)

He had problems with his legs and he overcame that. Everyone he met he had a positive effect on.

Lyle is likely to line-up for Great Britain at the IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha, Qatar, which take place between 22-31 October.
