#SuperheroSunday: Veronica Hipolito

It is time for the next in our #SuperheroSunday series, and this week it is the turn of Brazil’s world 200m T38 champion Veronica Hipolito.

The 18-year-old burst on to the international stage at the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships in Lyon, France, where she raced to victory in the 200m T38 as well as winning silver over 100m.

After that impressive major championship debut, Hipolito will be hoping to hit the headlines again this year as she looks to retain her world title in Doha, Qatar.

A winning performance at last month’s IPC Athletics Grand Prix in her home town of Sao Paulo, where she clocked 1:04.37 in the 400m T38 to take 0.53 seconds off her own Americas record, could well be just a taster of what she has in store this year.

Here are Hipolito’s heroes for #SuperheroSunday:

1. My Parents, José and Josenilda

I have a humble family. My parents never give up and always support me to face life´s difficulties and the treatment of my disability.

2. Yohansson Nascimento (Brazilian sprinter - Paralympic and world champion, 200m T46)

He is an example on and off the track. He is honest, a fighter and a supporter.

3. Daniel Mendes da Silva (Brazilian sprinter – World champion 400m T11)

Even being the best in the world, he still wants to improve. He is always strong enough to face anything.

The 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha, Qatar, take place between 22-31 October.
