UCI Para-Cycling World Champs Re-Scheduled

By IPC

The International Cycling Union (UCI) recently announced that the 2009 UCI Para-Cycling World Championships, originally scheduled to be held in Seville, Spain, from 3-13 September, were re-scheduled and will take place in other cities.

The track events will be held from 6-8 November 2009 in Manchester, Great Britain, following on from the UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics in that city from 30 October to 1 November. The road events will be held from 8-13 September 2009 in the Piedmont region of Italy.

The Spanish organizing committee informed the UCI that it had become impossible to organize the Championships due to financial difficulties.

The Para-Cycling World Championships have been organized under the auspices of the UCI since 2007. More than 300 athletes from over 35 countries will take part in the Championships. This will be the first time that the Championships are separated into different disciplines (road and track). This will have the benefit of allowing athletes to prepare in a more specific manner for the various events.
