IPC Headquarters

The world Headquarters of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) are located in Bonn, Germany. Due to the enormous growth and the increasing complexity of the various services offered by the IPC, the once fully volunteer-managed organization had to establish a professionally run office. With funding from the Federal Government of Germany as well as of the City of Bonn, relocation and expansion was made possible. The building was renovated and made wheelchair-accessible, and the IPC Headquarters were officially opened on 3 September 1999.

The IPC Headquarters do not only provide services to all its stakeholders, but acts as a meeting and contact centre for all interest groups, inside and outside the Paralympic Movement. Thus the various meeting room facilities (which can host more than 30 people) are used for the various IPC committee meetings, meetings with other organizations in the fields of sports, disability, global and regional development, volunteerism, corporate interest groups, etc, as well as press conferences, educational programmes with local schools, cultural events, with interested visitors always welcome.

Dating back to the early 1900s, the IPC building was originally a private residence and was then used as an office building for a period of time. It has been given a distinct atmosphere through the integration of modern elements with the old-style architecture. The IPC Headquarters are about 2km from the city centre, including the main train station and the city hall, and is along Bonn's Museum Mile.
