Paralympic Ticket Sales Hitting Impressive Numbers
A total of 870,000 tickets have been sold as of late
last night for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. These impressive numbers will
prove to be a large turnout that will expand the Paralympic audience, and
essentially the Paralympic Movement. The tickets first went on sale little over
two months ago on 20 July, and it is estimated to pass the one million mark any
day now.
More tickets for the competitions and events will be made
available on the ticketing website, a Beijing 2008 Games Ticketing Centre
spokesperson recently told reporters. This website will be the primary source
for obtaining tickets, along with more than 30 Bank of China authorized outlets
in Beijing and Qingdao.
According to BOCOG, the final confirmations for
ticket booking for various partners and sponsors have been progressing
consistently. The Ticketing Centre, after the conclusion of this effort, expects
to dig out extra tickets and make them available on the aforementioned
website.
Over the next few days there will be new tickets added on the
website, including some tickets for events in the Bird’s Nest and the Water
Cube. These of course are the two most recognized venues of the Beijing
Paralympics, and therefore had extra tickets made available to meet public
demand.
