IPC Media Team Readies for Games
As the entire media team of the International Paralympic
Committee (IPC) is now in the Chinese capital for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic
Games, the operations are fully up and running. The Games do not begin for
another four days, however the members of the staff are in place to relay as
much information as possible to the Paralympic fans all around the
world.
Starting out, you might notice the first official newsletter that
will be on our website. Labeled “Beijing 2008 News”, it will provide a daily
overview of the Games experience. Included will be various interviews with the
people of the Paralympic Games, including the athletes, officials, volunteers,
family member, and other spectators. Additionally the IPC Media and
Communications Team will be publishing stories directly related to the Games
like competitions and the results therein, as well as other cultural activities
connected to the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games experience.
The President
of the IPC, Sir Philip Craven, has already begun his own interpretation of the
Games, with a President’s Blog. This blog is first for the Paralympic Games and
will provide an inside look of the president’s experiences and what he wants to
say to the readers. There is also the possibility to include comments below each
entry, allowing an open forum-like platform for the Paralympic community. The
blog can be read and followed at http://blog.paralympic.org.
The web
channel, www.ParalympicSport.TV will
be broadcasting the Games and running interviews with the athletes throughout
the event. A complete listing of programming schedules will be up on the IPC
website soon.
If there are any inquiries during the Games, there is a
special IPC Media email address that has been created. Feel free to email with
media-related questions at ipc.media@paralympic.org.
