It is with great sadness and sorrow that the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has watched the tragedy in Sichuan Province unfold over the last days.

On behalf of every member of the Paralympic Family and especially the athletes that are preparing to be present in Beijing in September, we send you our heartfelt regrets and support for the work that is necessary in relieving the situation that the Chinese people find themselves in owing to this natural disaster.
 
In particular we give our support to the rescue teams who are striving hard against impassable terrain and difficult weather conditions to get to the epicentre of the earthquake.

The strength and spirit of all Paralympians are with the Chinese people at this very difficult time.
