In April 2007, the Beijing 2008 Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (BOCOG), the Beijing Olympic Broadcasting Co., Ltd (BOB) and the Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) in attendance of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Sir Philip Craven officially signed broadcasting operation and management agreements for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

According to the agreement between the IPC and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the host broadcaster for the Olympic Games also becomes the host broadcaster for the Paralympic Games.

For the first time, broadcasting for Paralympic Games will be conducted through high definition equipment. BOB, a Sino-foreign joint venture, funded by BOCOG and OBS, will provide live telecast signals for various sports, as well as for the Opening and Closing Ceremony.

The Host Broadcaster will be responsible for producing and distributing unbiased radio and television coverage of the Paralympic Games, as well as developing and operating the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) and the necessary broadcast facilities in other venues. The coverage will be provided as a service to broadcasters who have purchased Broadcast Rights to broadcast the Games in their respective countries. With the benefit of previous Games experience, BOB and OBS will continue the creative efforts of its predecessors and provide technologically superior and unbiased television coverage of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

BOCOG and the host broadcaster for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games will manage the accreditation process for all rights holding broadcasters. For any further information, please contact Mark Parkman at markparkman@isbtv.com .
