Hong Kong athlete, Chui Yee Yu only took up Wheelchair Fencing after she was approached by some wheelchair fencers while swimming, who encouraged her to come along to try out the sport. Since then the 20 year-old has achieved impressive results on her road to Athens. At the World Championships in 2002, she achieved first place in the women´s individual foil and silver in the individual epee. She also proved her skills at the FESPIC Games in 2002, where she achieved four first place results. ATHENS 2004 will be her first Paralympic Games and she is aiming for double gold medals in the women´s individual foil and epee events. When speaking about the challenges of Wheelchair Fencing, Yu says ´It´s a very exciting sport. It requires using the mind together with physical strength´.
