After beginning Wheelchair Tennis at the age of 11, the now 23-year old, Ester Vergeer is four-time Wheelchair Tennis World Champion. She is currently number one in the international tennis ranking for both singles (since 1999) and doubles (since 1998). She has also been a valuable member of the Dutch women´s Wheelchair Tennis team, which has secured all World Team Cup titles since 2000 onwards. She is the winner of four titles in 2004, having won all 27 matches that she has played this year. The 2002 World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability won´t stop there, she also plays Wheelchair Basketball at the International level as well as completing her university studies.
