At the tender age of 16 years old, Janine Schmidt will overcome the Muscular Dystrophy she has had since birth to compete at her first Paralympic Games in ATHENS 2004. Schmidt began competing in Swimming in her home nation of Austria in 1996 and made it to the international level the following year. After good finishing times at a number of world and regional championships, including a second placing at the 2002 World Championships in Argentina, Schmidt is out to prove her personal motto that ´everything is possible´.
