Beatrice Hess is one of the most accomplished Paralympic athletes, and she will be doing it again at ATHENS 2004. A holder of a total of 19 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze Paralympic medals, Hess was aiming to retire following her 6-time record breaking performance at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, instead, she will be back for more.
She has already received multiple awards for her performances including two nominations for the Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability in 2000 and 2001 and was awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur by the President of France. Hess, a mother of two children, is also an active promoter of women in sport, as a member of the IPC Commission for Women in Sport and the IPC liaison to the IOC Women in Sport Commission.
