26 year-old Leandro Manso Marinho made his mark on the world of 7-a-side
Football during the World Championships held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2003.
His team placed second, but Marinho was voted the Most Valuable Player of the
Championship. During the Pre-Paralympic Tournament held recently in the Ukraine,
the Brazilian team placed third yet Marinho placed himself as the top scorer of
the tournament with a total of 9 goals. Marinho began playing Football in Rio de
Janerio after he was approached by two members of the Brazilian national Team.
In two weeks time he will be leading that team, as their captain, to the ATHENS
2004 Paralympic Games. While he is focused on the podium, he also wants his team
to provide inspiration to others, in particular his four-year old son.
