INAS-FID was founded in 1986 and is the International Federation for sport for people with an intellectual disability.
INAS-FID exists to provide a platform for athletes with an intellectual disability who wish to perform their sports:
• in a competitive way
• in open competition as at the Olympics
• according to the rules of the International Federations (for athletics the rules of the IAAF, for basketball those of FIBA, etcetera).
INAS-FID is a democratic organisation that belongs to its national member organisations.
INAS-FID is a member of the International Paralympic Committee representing Intellectual Disability.
The INAS-FID secretariat is managed by Mencap in England.

Mr Hideki Arai, INAS Technical Officer for Alpine and Nordic Skiing has urged all INAS members who wish to compete in winter sports to complete their INAS registration as soon as possible.
