The head of the Reserach Team Olympia during the Paralympic Games in Athens 2004 is Prof. Dr. Norbert Mueller.

During the Paralympic Games 2004 Prof. Dr. Hoener (project coordination) and five student members of the Research Team Olympia will stay in Athens. Prof. Dr. Hoener will lead a research project about the perception of blind athletes at goal ball.

The students will work as volunteers in different areas of the Paralympic Games and in addition to that they will collect data from German Paralympic spectators in the German Club. The important data will be analysed by the Research Team Olympia. The data will be compared with those of the Olympic Games in Athens 2004 (interview of 2300 visitors) and the Paralympics 2000 in Sydney (interview of 400 visitors).

Another project is a survey among 400 pupils that visit the Paralympics. It will be studied if their visit educates them and gives them a better understanding for disabled peoples.

Marc Buchwalder and Norbert Fleischmann will interview media representatives during the Paralympic Games. Additionally there will be a questionnaire for the Paralympic athletes. This research is important to get an inside view of the Paralympics. Angelika Hofmann, working at the IBC, will support these two projects.

Two students will also work as volunteers:
Buchwalder, Marc: Volunteer at the Paralympic Village
Handstein, Sebastian: Volunteer at Boccia
others students are: Michael Westerberg (working on environmental issues of Olympic Games) and Michael Vid.
