9th General Assembly: Important Information

The 9th IPC General Assembly will take place in Athens, Greece, on 7 and 8 December. In connection with the General Assembly, a number of meetings are going to be held for the members of those committees respectively.

Monday, December 3, 2001 all day Sports Council meeting
Tuesday, December 4, 2001 all day Sports Council meeting
Wednesday, December 5, 2001 all day Executive Committee meeting
Thursday, December 6, 2001 am  Management Committee meeting
pm  Venue Tour (available for all GA delegates)
Friday, December 7, 2001 all day General Assembly
Saturday, December 8, 2001 am  General Assembly – POC reports
pm  General Assembly – elections
Sunday, December 9, 2001 am  Executive Committee meeting
pm  Development Committee meeting

All practical information concerning the General Assembly and registration forms will be sent to NPCs and IOSDs directly by the host, the Athens 2004 Organizing Committee (ATHOC).

Registration forms must be returned to ATHOC by 15 September 2001.

Deadlines for returning forms to the IPC

Invitations to the General Assembly from IPC Secretary-General, Miguel Sagarra, were sent out from the IPC Headquarters in early June 2001. The 2001 General Assembly will elect relevant Executive Committee members for the next term of office (2001-2005). Nomination forms, as well as motion and mandate forms, have been sent out with this invitation.

Deadlines for returning the forms to the IPC HQ are as follows:

Nominations must be submitted prior to 7 September 2001.
Motions must be submitted by 7 September 2001.
Mandates must be returned by 1 November 2001.

Original forms should be sent to the IPC HQ via post.

Solidarity Funding

Solidarity Funding will be provided to certain countries to help them to attend the General Assembly, on the basis of their Gross National Product (GNP).

IPC Solidarity provided to eligible countries will cover:

  1. IPC General Assembly registration fee (Will be paid directly to ATHOC by the IPC)
  2. Four (4) nights’ accommodation for one room (Will be paid directly to the hotel by the IPC)

Conditions for obtaining the funding are as follows:

  1. The NPC is a full IPC member in good standing.
  2. The NPC sends only one (1) delegate to the General Assembly.
  3. The NPC has entered athletes into IPC-sanctioned competitions during the past four (4) years.

IPC Solidarity will be available to the following countries:

Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, FYR Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Yugoslavia.

Middle East
Afghanistan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Syria.

Africa
Algeria, Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea Republic, Kenya, Lesotho, Libya, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tomé e Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Seychelles, Sudan, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Reminder

NPCs are urged to check whether they have paid the IPC 2001 membership fee. Voting and nomination rights at the General Assembly, and the right to submit motions, will only be granted to fully paid-up members.
