A racing wheelchair next to running shoes of Michael Johnson? Maybe.

With the completion of the IOC's Olympic Museum renewal program "Olympic 2000", a new section on the Paralympic Games and on sports for athletes with a disability in general has been inaugurated June 2001.

Integrating memorabilia and pieces of sporting equipment stemming out of the Paralympic Movement, the Olympic Museum sets a signal and shows that the Paralympics are a "subject which is both current and essential to Olympism".

The exhibition comprises various items out of Paralympic Games history such as torches and medals, shows sporting equipment like for example sitskis and wheelchairs, informs about various sports and features athletes of different nationalities and disability groups.

Once again perfect harmony is achieved between the Olympic and Paralympic exhibits and information on display, emphasizing once more the common goal: perfection in elite sport.
