European Championships
in Denmark

The Danish Disabled Federation hosted the Open European Championship Shooting from 28 July until 5 August in Vingsted.

The competition venues and the accommodation facilities were all located on one site, which made it very easy for all competitors to prepare for their competitions and to attend other events. The organizing committee led by Erik Jensen did a superb job, not only during the tournament but also in the preparation period. Through close communication with the Shooting Sports Assembly Executive Committee (SAEC), major problems were anticipated and solved accordingly.

Together with Sverre Bergenholdt, Representative of the European Paralympic Committee, who attended the competition, we were witness to a tournament run in the best possible conditions. As a result of this, many world records were broken.

As the center of gravity in shooting sport lies in Europe, we follow a philosophy to run our Regional Championships as open competitions, thus allowing athletes from all over the world to compete at a very high level. We present two sets of medals, one for the Open class, the other for the European title.

The success of this formula is proven by the number of participants. Thirty-three countries with a total of 207 competitors took part in the competition. We could welcome three new nations: Albania, Czech Republic and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
