Strong Ticket Sales for Winter Games

Initial sales of Paralympic Winter Games tickets have exceeded expectations with nearly 10,000 sold 100 days before the Opening Ceremony of the Salt Lake 2002 Paralympic Winter Games. The Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the Paralympic Winter Games of 2002 (SLOC) is excited that the community is embracing this world-class event slated for March. Salt Lake 2002 - Logo

The Paralympic Winter Games will be held March 7 - 16, 2002. There are 230,000 Paralympic tickets to 100 medal events in three sports as well as opening and closing ceremonies now available at Smith's Tix stores, online at www.saltlake2002.com/paralympics or by calling 1-800-Tickets (in the United States). An expected 1,000 athletes and team officials representing 36 countries will be participating.

“The countdown for the Paralympic Winter Games, one of the most exciting sporting events this community will experience, is on,” said Mitt Romney, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the Paralympic Winter Games of 2002 (SLOC) on November 28, 2001. “With 100 Days to go, the preparations have headed into high gear and we will be well-prepared to host successful Paralympic Winter Games.”

Families big and small will be able to afford to see the Paralympic Winter Games with competition ticket prices ranging from US$5 to US$10. In addition to the exhilarating sports competitions, the Paralympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies will celebrate this 10-day event in a way that Utah will never forget. Tickets for ceremonies will range from US$20 to US$100.

The Paralympic mascot program Friends of Otto offers savings to local businesses, organizations or large groups purchasing quantities of the Salt Lake 2002 Paralympic Winter Games tickets for their employees and families. In addition, individuals can choose to donate tickets to a charitable organization and provide to others the opportunity to experience the excitement of the Paralympic Winter Games.
